About the event
Join us as Terri Wexler takes us through ‘Companioning the bereaved’
Have you had the experience of being with someone who is dying or grieving and not knowing what to say, do or feel? This seminar is a must for those wishing to “companion” people in their unique life and death journeys. Participants will come away with the importance of acknowledging our grief and engaging in mourning, and that all our grief (whether related to death or not) is unique. The presentation will cover: Definitions of grief, mourning and being bereaved; Misconceptions about grief; How grief impacts us physically and emotionally; Helping ourselves heal when someone we loved has died.
Terri Wexler MSW RSW, an Oakridge resident, has been practicing Social Work for over 25 years and is passionate about helping people mourn well. Terri studied under Dr. Alan Wolfelt, one of North America’s leading death educators, at the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Colorado.
