Weaslehead Society's Annual Volunteer Picnic - September 7 10:30 a.m. You are cordially invited to attend the Weaselhead/Glenmore Park Preservation Society's 23rd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Labour Day Monday, September 7th, 10:30 a.m. at the Snowy Owl Picnic Site and shelter in North Glenmore Park. This year's event is extra-special because we will be hosting a ceremony commemorating the 'Barry Erskine Bridge' (formerly known as the 'green bridge crossing the Elbow') at approximately 11 a.m. followed by a delicious Szechuan lunch shortly after noon, and yes, it's all free. This is our opportunity to thank anyone and everyone who has helped out with our organization in any way, no matter how big or small over the past few years. Individual plating and cutlery will be provided, but feel free to bring your own utensils. You may also bring your own lunch if that's your preference. Cold beverages will be provided and Covid guidelines will be followed. You must RSVP to pastpresident@theweaselhead.com to attend, and when doing so, please indicate if you'll be bringing other volunteers with you, and also let us know if you prefer a beef, chicken, or vegetarian meal. We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you there at 10:30 a.m. on Labour Day. On behalf of the WGPPS Board of Directors, Paul Finkleman pastpresident@theweaselhead.com

Oakridge Community Garden Cookbook OCG gardeners are excited about sharing recipes that use local produce harvested from our raised beds/plots. The purpose of this cookbook is to collect and present favourite recipes to further benefit the sense of community, and foster friendship among garden members. This cookbook will be kept as a live document, and added to each season while giving correct credit to the original recipe owners. Please provide detailed and appropriate references when contributing. Please submit your favourite recipe, a story about the recipe (if there is one) and a photo (if you can) to: Julie Kearns, kearns.julie@gmail.com before August 30.
Who Else Needs Help Getting a Handle on Technology? OSA is committed to bridging the digital divide for older adults. We can help you use the Internet, connect to social programs via Zoom, and more! If you don’t have a computer, tablet, or Internet connection, we can help with obtaining these. Please contact Samantha to register for this important program. Also if you can help train others in basic skills. We have distributed several TELUS tablets (with free data!) and 8 HP laptops to members who are now enjoying more connected activities on line. Our first two young Tech volunteers are on hand to help with this too. Thanks for stepping up Emily and Linden!
