OSA MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS PRIVILEGES!
OSA Membership is required to participate in programs, currently only offered virtually. New programs and events are coming. Fees have been waived for the current year (normally $10 per person). BUT if you renewed and paid already, your membership is extended for an extra year, until April 2022.
Please click here to visit the OSA webpage, then click on the OSA Member Sign Up link (top righthand side), and fill out the form so we can keep YOU in touch with all we have to offer now and in future.
Members enjoy reduced fees for live events (hopefully returning soon.) We are compiling discounts for members to receive special offers at local businesses or suppliers. And members get a vote in the affairs of OSA at the AGM.
BONUS Sign up as a new OSA member NOW and your name will be entered in a weekly prize draw. Also a special draw for the first 50 new members signed up starting today in Oakridge community’s 50th year!

WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY
June 15 is an official United Nations day acknowledging the significance of elder abuse as a public health and a human rights issue. The pandemic demonstrated again that older adults are disproportionately affected during crises, through increased risk of isolation, unmet healthcare needs, poverty and elder abuse. It’s time to rethink policies with an age friendly lens to guarantee safe and healthy aging. OSA will be participating in the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse’s 2020 campaign: Plant a Seed for Change to #UprootElderAbuse. On June 15, please join us in planting a seed/flower/tree to remember and honour older people who are affected by elder abuse and grow the conversation. Share photos of your gardening work on your social media platforms with the hashtag #UprootElderAbuse and by email to info@oakridgeseniors.ca. We will be posting all submissions on our website.
We all deserve to lead happy and healthy lives free from abuse as we age.
