Welcome to all our new and returning SW55+Connect (SWC) members.
We are thrilled to announce that we have recruited a volunteer website editor, Ana Bruno, so you will see regular updates on our website in the future. A monthly printable calendar will always be up to date from now on. Welcome Ana, and thanks for joining our team!
It has been a year since September 2022, when we set up SWC as a non-profit group serving seniors in SW Calgary. We have been really encouraged by the interest in our group, with over 500 Meetup members and over 80 paid-up SWC members.
The Monday programs we started for morning coffee and afternoon card playing have been successfully taken on by the Cedarbrae Community Centre and are thriving. We hope to establish more groups in other locations soon.
It is important to remember the self-funding group relies on membership dues to support the programs we have offered and want to continue to offer.
Watch out in the future for details on more weekly programs, another Rosebud theatre bus trip, a Halloween celebration/party, and a Christmas party with entertainers.
I have finally joined the Legion sessions to figure out how to play darts, and some of us are having fun improving our aim and skills. It is a social event with no need to join the games at all.
We publicize senior-centered activities in our area, so please let us know of any events to promote. Let us know if you are willing to volunteer and run a session on something you are passionate about.
MeetUp is the place to register for any of our activities and to join our growing active group. You need to join MeetUp to sign up for SWC activities. But you need to join, pay, and sign a waiver to become a SWC member to participate regularly in SWC activities. Get the application from our website.
From July 1, membership for the calendar year will only be $10 (normally $20) so bring along new friends to enjoy these activities.
Your friends at SWC: Julie, Sheila, Debra, Sonja, Ted
